Due to the advancement of the digital age, violating these aspects without consequence has become easier, but the opposite is also true. It has become much easier to uphold academic integrity due to the advancements in the ed-tech sector. 

Today, we will look at a few tools and technologies that help to promote academic integrity (especially in students). These tools not only facilitate catching cheating behaviour but also help people to stay honest, and responsible in perfectly legal ways.

How Ed-Tech promote academic integrity

1). Plagiarism checkers discourage cheating

First on our list of ed-tech tools is the plagiarism checker. A plagiarism checker is a tool that can scan and analyze the input text and determine whether it is plagiarism or not. This type of tool is useful for both the people who are creating the work and the people who are checking it.

A common example would be that of students and teachers. Students have to create assignments while teachers have to check them. Using plagiarism checkers on the teacher’s side discourages students from committing plagiarism. The fear of repercussions will motivate the students to stay away from plagiarism, thereby upholding academic integrity.

This point may feel redundant, but it is not so. Not all types of plagiarism can be fixed by citing sources. The only solution to remove this kind of plagiarism is to reword the content completely. By rewording the passages that are too similar, writers can make them look different but still have the same meaning.

However, once that is detected, writers can use a rewording tool to change the offending text automatically.
