Introduction


In this series of workshops, we will gain an overview of the format of the IELTS examination’s speaking and writing (academic module) components, equipping you with the knowledge to confidently brief your students on what to expect when sitting this high-stake examination.

In the first session, IELTS speaking, we will take a deep dive into ‘Part 2’ of the test, suggesting learning strategies that enable students to reach their maximum potential during the presentation section of the exam.

In the second session, IELTS writing Task 1, we will unpick a sample task by exploring the key elements that make a successful answer and we will analyze a completed student response to the task also giving you the opportunity to make your own assessment.

In the third session, IELTS writing Task 2, we will once again dissect a sample question, with an accompanying answer, and insights will be shared on the key dos and don’ts of helping your students to create a suitable essay response.

In all three sessions, we will use the IELTS Band Descriptors (public version), available at ielts.org, as our benchmark for understanding how to continually measure the guidance and assessment we provide to students who are preparing for the IELTS.

Preparing for the Workshop


Our Masterclass workshops are typically delivered in 90 mins.

At Gallery Teachers, we endorse the philosophy of building on your previous knowledge and experience as opposed to just imparting knowledge on you. 

Therefore, in order to prepare you for the webinar and help you activate what you already know about the topic, we will suggest two to four reflective questions for you to consider before you join the event.

You will also be given the opportunity to post your reflections, along with any questions you may already have at the pre-watching stage, to the discussion forum. 

The reflective questions, as well as ideas and shared experiences posted to the forum by attendees, will be used in the real-time Q&A session in order to generate an engaging and meaningful discussion, involving the presenter and teachers from around the world. 

After the event, the forum discussion will take on a life of its own and teachers will be encouraged to continue posting their experiences, reflections and questions related to the topic of the webinar. So, if you feel strongly about the topic, we will make it possible for you to take the discussion beyond the scheduled workshop and continue sharing your ideas with like-minded teachers and teacher trainers from other countries

I enjoyed this workshop because it has been delivered by a trainer with clear experience in this field, is not just someone who read a manual.
I liked the personal touch she added and the fact that during the webinar she showed her credentials.
She also touched very good points I never thought about, both from the perspective of a student and from the examiner’s point of view.
