We provide pathway and foundation courses onto university and professional programmes as well as offering general and academic English programmes.
The School of Foundation and English Language Studies (SoFELS) is part of BPP University. We are based in our busy dedicated centre in Shepherds Bush, London. We are a British Council accredited teaching centre, we have been in operation for four years and we welcome over 1000 international students per year onto our English and Academic Skills courses.
We provide pathway and foundation courses onto university and professional programmes as well as offering general and academic English programmes. We also run insessional courses in our business and law centres in central London. All of our teachers have level 7 qualifications on the National Qualifications Framework. The General and Academic English programmes are twelve week courses, including induction and assessment periods, on which students learn both language and academic skills pertinent to their level. The general English courses are run at the equivalent level of IELTS 4.0 and 4.5. Our Academic English Courses are run at the equivalent of IELTS 5.0 up to 6.5.
As well as General and Academic English we run Foundation and Pre-Masters Programmes. Our International Foundation Certificate (IFC) is a two term course which articulates onto our Business, Law and Psychology degrees. Students need to have an equivalent IELTS score of 5.5 to begin this course. The students on these courses undertake foundation business, law and psychology courses as well as undertaking courses in EAP.
Our Pre-Masters courses prepare international students for our Master’s Programmes in our Business School. The programme is intended for students who lack the equivalent of a recognised undergraduate degree. Our Pre-Masters students undertake a two term course, twelve weeks per term. The students study the four English skills alongside subject modules, with the intention of building knowledge of EAP, study skills and subject knowledge.
As well as our face to face programmes we are also developing and delivering online content. We are currently delivering online Legal and Financial English programmes which support BPP students undertaking online and blended professional courses. We are developing the EAP component of an Online Foundation Legal Course and we have plans for more development and delivery
