Steps to Select, Set Up and Manage Speaking Activities

Introduction
In this workshop, we will analyse the reasons why learners keep silent in class and how to help them be more active and confident during speaking activities.
We’ll have a look at different types of speaking activities, talk about how to select an appropriate one for your group of learners, and what criteria to take into account. We will be discussing what a teacher should focus on before the activity and introduce simple steps of how to set it up and prepare the students for speaking so that they are engaged and keep talking.
By analysing typical problems that come up during speaking activities, you will have a better understanding of how to respond promptly to such situations and manage them effectively. We will also discuss how to round up speaking activities so that the students have a feeling of achievement. We will be exploring the process of selecting, setting and managing speaking activities and at the end of this workshop, you will have a clear guide of how to do it efficiently.
