The Role of Error Correction in the English Language Classroom

Introduction
This informative workshop will provide you with the best ways to approach both written and spoken error correction in your language learning classroom. First, we will look at reasons for student errors and become more sensitive to why they are made by our English language learners.
We will also reflect upon our students first languages (mother tongues) and denote why they can become a source for difficulties in English language production.
We will see an example of student errors in writing and provide helpful ideas for giving feedback to students for both their written and spoken errors. We will focus on how you can get your students to notice their own errors and discuss the importance of fluency in a foreign language versus accuracy. Resources will also be made available.
