Dalling Montessori Nursery is based in Hammersmith. We will try to upgrade the nursery to a pre-prep school soon. We are looking for an experienced deputy manager and teachers to support us. If you are interested in developing a Bilingual Immersion program, please feel free to contact us.

DALLING MONTESSORI NURSERY

Job Description for Deputy Manager for nursery and Pre-prep School

Reports to: Manager /Owner
Hours: 40 per week (excluding half hour lunch breaks)
Holiday: 8 weeks
Salary: £24,000-£26,000 per annum

Main responsibilities:
To deliver a high standard of learning, development and care for children aged 0-8 years.
To deputise for the Nursery Manager.
To supervise and appraise nursery staff as directed
To ensure that the preschool nursery is a safe environment for children, staff and others.
To developing partnerships with parents/carers to increase involvement in their child’s development.
To be responsible for any tasks delegated by the Manager.

Main activities:
To provide a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors, at all times.
To deliver an appropriate play based Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and primary school curriculum that enables children to make individual progress and to support other staff in doing so
To integrate Montessori principles into the curriculum and pedagogical approaches
To help ensure the nursery meets Ofsted requirements, at all times
To undertake designated officer roles as directed.
To provide an excellent role model of good practice to all other members of staff
To supervise staff and be involved in the recruitment, induction, training, counselling, and disciplining of staff, and to undertake appraisals and supervisions as directed
To understand and work to the nursery’s policies and procedures, including how to deal with child protection issues appropriately and how to respond to incidents, accidents, complaints, and emergencies
To plan activities which ensure each child is working towards their learning and development goals and support others in doing so
To be a key person.
To ensure records are properly maintained
To liaise closely with parents/carers, informing them about the nursery and school and its curriculum, exchanging information about children’s progress and encouraging parents’ involvement.
To work with parents and outside agencies to ensure the individual learning requirements of children with particular needs, disabilities or those who require additional support.
To work in partnership with senior management to update and review policies and procedures, the self-evaluation and improvement plan.
To attend relevant events, meetings, and training courses when necessary. This includes regular staff meetings at least every 4 – 6 six weeks out of normal hours of work and also Management Team meetings, and be involved with training matters.
To support the Management in creating a happy and welcoming nursery setting.
To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed, in accordance with the nursery and school’s aims and objectives
Person Specification for Deputy Nursery Manager

Education & Qualifications

Essential Criteria: Minimum Level 3 qualification in Children and Young Peoples Workforce or equivalent.

Desirable Criteria :

Food Hygiene Certificate
Paediatric First Aid
TESL qualification Diploma in Montessori Teaching
QTS
Experience/ Knowledge

Essential Criteria:

Excellent working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and current Ofsted statutory guidance.
At least one year’s recent relevant experience
Knowledge and proven practical experience of implementing high quality learning opportunities.
Knowledge and understanding of EAL pedagogical approaches and experience of teaching children who are EAL learners
Knowledge and understanding of SEND and experience of teaching children with SEND
Desirable Criteria :

Two or more years relevant experience
Experience of working in a Montessori setting

Essential Criteria:

Empathy and understanding of children 0-5, and relevant skills in working with groups of children of this age range.
Excellent verbal and communication skills with children and parents.
Ability to produce high quality reports and keep clear and accurate records.
Excellent organizational skills Administrative and basic IT skills

Able to work on own initiative
