Language Training Consultant and Business Owner
I founded my school, Peartree Languages in 2005 on a hope and prayer and I am now very proud to be the Owner and Manager of one of the most respected and established language training organisations in Wales.
However, in my heart I have always been a teacher and I have never stopped teaching and developing my professional skills to be able to give the very best of myself to my students. I just can’t help it, even when I should probably be promoting my school and making sales calls in all honestly I would rather be in the classroom with my students – that is my real passion! This very student focussed approach is the aspect that I, and all my team, most like to give you.
My main area of interest is English for Exams, especially IELTS, an examination I consider myself to have in depth knowledge of, teaching and assessing the requirements of this high stakes qualification for almost 20 years. Nevertheless, when it comes to the English language I simply enjoy teaching all aspects from grammar to pronunciation to study skills to the English we really speak (natural English), both face to face and online.
I am a lifelong learner myself, with a true passion for people, cultures, acquiring knowledge and making personal and professional friends for life. I have yet to crack the work-life balance trick, but when I do have free time I spend it with my family, ideally travelling and I love to listen to history podcasts (I’m a history nerd, that’s my guilty pleasure!).
My final curious fact is that when I first left university my plan was to be a singer-songwriter – the next Alanis Morissette, and find a record deal. That didn’t work out, but I do still like to hold a tune 🙂
