
Shelley Dermody
Shelley has been teaching since 2009. She has worked as a Director of Studies (DOS), English for Academic Purposes (EAP) lecturer and young learner specialists, in Spain, Italy, Mexico and the UK. She has a masters degrees in Child Studies, Translation Studies, and TEFL and Applied Linguistics from universities in Spain, Sweden and the UK. She is passionate about the student’s experience in the language class and how we can bring personalisation into the class to promote engagement.
Her more recent interests are in the areas of preparing students for studying in English as a vehicular language in CLIL and EAP, how to maintain and create a rapport through distant learning and cultural representation in the classroom.
She is the ESL content writer, teacher and academic lead at Say It Right English (on Instagram), where she focuses on language acquisition, translation, proofreading and academic English.
