At the Speaking Club, we aim to help you improve your English speaking skills by providing you with opportunities to practice in a supportive environment. Each session features a unique theme, with three related topics and a series of engaging questions to explore.
Once you’ve joined the meeting, your teacher will provide you with the questions for one of the topics and divide you into small groups. After a brief introduction, you’ll have the chance to discuss the questions with your fellow students, exchanging ideas and insights in a collaborative setting.
Our Speaking Club is designed to encourage you to feel confident and comfortable expressing yourself in English, while also providing valuable feedback from your peers and teacher. So, come prepared to participate, learn, and have fun!
Here are some rules to keep in mind during our sessions:
- Speak in English only! This is the perfect opportunity to practice your English skills, so let’s make the most of it. If you can’t remember a word or phrase, try your best to explain it in a different way or move on to the next question.
- Be respectful and courteous to others. We want everyone to feel comfortable and included, so please refrain from using offensive language or making anyone feel uncomfortable.
- Have fun and participate as much as possible! Our sessions are designed to be engaging and interactive, so don’t be afraid to share your ideas and opinions. The more you speak, the more you’ll improve your English skills.
That’s completely understandable! Many English learners feel shy when it comes to speaking in front of others, especially when they’re still learning the language. However, our Speaking Club is designed to be a supportive and encouraging environment where you can practice your speaking skills without feeling judged or self-conscious. Our experienced teachers will guide you through the activities and discussions, and you’ll have the opportunity to connect with other learners who are also working on their English skills. Plus, we have some tips to help you overcome shyness when participating in the Speaking Club:
- Prepare ahead of time: Before the meeting, take some time to review the topic and come up with some ideas or questions to share with the group. This will help you feel more prepared and confident when it’s time to speak.
- Practice speaking on your own: If you’re feeling nervous about speaking in front of others, try practicing on your own first. Record yourself speaking on a topic and listen back to it. This will help you identify areas where you need to improve and build your confidence.
- Focus on the conversation, not yourself: Instead of worrying about how you sound or what others might think of you, focus on the conversation itself. Listen carefully to what others are saying and try to contribute to the discussion in a meaningful way.
- Take risks: Don’t be afraid to take risks and try new things. The Speaking Club is a safe and supportive environment where you can make mistakes and learn from them.
