Gallery Teachers is committed to providing opportunities for teachers of all backgrounds and experiences. There are three types of listings:

Trainee Teacher – We require the trainee teacher to have an English level of C1 or above, and is currently studying on Gallery Teachers TEFL course.
Professional Teacher – you need to have a recognised TEFL Certificate, a valid Safeguarding Certificate and at least 100 hours of teaching experience.
Expert Teacher – Teachers with more than 5 years of teaching experience and qualified at the post-diploma level.

University degree in teaching English (if you have another degree, such as Literature, Linguistics or Translation/Interpretation, and you are able to show exceptional skills in language teaching, we will still consider you for this position).
A national or state teaching license i.e. QTS in the UK.

Original certificates and qualifications will not be published on your profile. Students will be able to see a description of your qualification.

Teaching Rates

Gallery Teachers works with teachers from around the world, as such, we do our best to match with your pay expectations. You will be able to specify your expected teaching rates in the application form. We compare your expected pay with our established pay scale and will base your work offer on a combination of factors including qualification, experience, profile strength and pay rate.

Here is some guidance on our expected pay rate.

Trainee Teacher	N/A
Professional Teacher	We expect to pay a professional teacher from £10 to £30 per teaching contact hour.
Expert Teacher	We expect to pay an expert teacher from £20 to £40 per teaching contact hour.

Additional Work Opportunities

English Masterclass Teacher
We are looking for expert teachers to deliver weekly English Masterclasses, covering a wide range of English language topics of your choice.

Experience required: Expert in the field of teaching English
Date and time: 30 mins of presentation followed by up to 20 mins of Q&A. We can schedule the class at a time convenient for you. The masterclasses are delivered bi-weekly on a regular schedule.
Learner language level: A2 to C1
Support: you will receive one to one briefing with our Director of Studies to help you with the topic and planning
Pay: Your regular teaching rate x 2

Online Teacher for Small Groups
We are looking for professional teachers to deliver regular small group lessons of up to 6 learners on a regular weekly schedule.

Experience required: Professional teacher
Date and time: 1-hour session with the communicative approach, you can indicate your availability on the application form or email to us
Learner language level: A2 to C1
Support: you will receive one to one briefing with our Director of Studies to help you with the syllabus fit and planning
Pay: Your regular teaching rate

Speaking Club Organiser
Use a variety of free online resources to prepare interesting discussion topics and questions. Organise learners into break-out rooms.

Experience required: Trainee, new or professional teacher
Date and time: 1-hour session, you can indicate your availability on the application form or email to us
Learner language level: A2 to B1, B2 to C1
Support: you will receive a tutorial on how to run the speaking club to help you get started
Pay: Your regular teaching rate

We will also use this opportunity to evaluate your spoken English level and discuss academic experiences before formally approving your application.

Tips for Filming a Video Introduction

A video introduction is the most direct way of promoting yourself as a teacher, here are some guidelines.

You must appear in the video.
Your video should be between 1 to 3 minutes.
DO NOT:
- Provide personal contact information
- Advertise or promote other services

How to make a great introduction video?

Recording

What should you say?

Who are you
Introduce yourself. What is your name, and what English lesson do you teach? Your credentials, work experience, or other interesting backgrounds.

What are your lessons like?
What do you enjoy about teaching, do you have a preferred method, and what is your attitude towards English language teaching? You might include specific details about the activities you do during lessons, show materials you use, or teach potential students their first word or phrase!

Show your personality
- Smile – Make students feel welcome to your online classes!
- Be yourself – Show or tell something interesting about yourself. Do you have special hobbies that students might enjoy discussing with you? Choose clothing or background that really represents you.

Some other tips

Be natural – Do not read directly from a script! Look into the camera, make it as though you are speaking directly to your student.
Think of your students – The care you take in preparing for your video shows students not only what you think of yourself, but how they can expect you to prepare for your classes with them.

Dress appropriately – Smart casual is acceptable, remember that 1st impressions count
