Choose the right certificate for you

We work in partnership with telc (The European Language Certificates) to provide Ofqual-regulated qualifications. Ofqual is the UK government department responsible for qualification, examinations and assessments. Our Ofqual-regulated qualifications offer:

  • final assessment externally marked by telc
  • qualification level recognised on the National Qualification Framework and Regulated Qualification Framework
  • qualification credits recognised by, and often transferrable to, other educational institutions
  • recognition in the UK and Europe as part of the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).

If you are unsure which version to choose, you can start with the Professional Version and opt-in to the Ofqual framework in the future.

Have a question?

This qualification is at an initial teacher training level and is offered to native and non-native speakers of English who are at least 18 years old and are looking to start a career in English teaching. The qualification does not require candidates to have a degree and it assumes no prior teaching experience.

If you are a student looking at taking a gap year before or after university, or someone thinking of a career change, or perhaps you and your family would like to relocate abroad and you are looking to start your career in teaching English, our TEFL course will give you the necessary foundation on which you can build as you gain experience through practice.

You can register and start the course at any time by clicking on the Start Now button. Follow the payment process until you have completed your purchase. The course can then be found in the “My Courses” section which you can progress to immediately.

Chances are you already have everything you need to start your course. The course has been adapted to cater for access using a variety of computer devices regardless of what country you are in. We do however recommend that you use a device with a comfortable screen size for the best learning experience.

Apart from this, we also recommend that you have:

  • A stable internet connection for video content
  • A webcam for online meetings with your tutor and webinars
  • A notebook for making notes and drafting answers
  • Acrobat Reader installed on your device

High-quality and authentic downloadable materials are also available to support offline learning.

Our Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Course also includes the Gallery Teachers 20-hour Language Awareness & Grammar Course as an introduction to grammar rules and terminology that will boost your confidence and pre-course knowledge, by raising your language awareness.

This is important because the TEFL course is a teaching methodology programme, not a language course; therefore, there will be no explicit grammar teaching during the course. There will however be references to grammar terminology and concepts throughout the course, in particular in the Teaching Grammar Module. The Language Awareness Course will give you an overview of grammar and help you understand the important grammar points in order to prepare you for the course.

You will have access to the grammar course throughout the course as a reference.

At the end of the course, you will receive a Gallery Teachers certificate with an individual verification number. Embossed hard copy certificate is also available free of charge and can be posted worldwide on request.

The 180-Hour TEFL certificate is issued by Gallery Teachers and is recognised worldwide and usually sufficient for obtaining English teaching jobs in most non-majority English-speaking countries. This certificate can be verified and notarized.

The truth is, you get what you pay for.  Quite often you will find courses with poorly compiled and organised PDFs or e-books and without any face-to-face training with an experienced trainer. These courses will not prepare you for starting a career in teaching English as a foreign language.

Gallery Teachers is a well-known brand in the EFL industry and your certificate will carry more weight with employers.

Regulated qualifications from a reputable provider give you the assurance that your achievement is real and authoritative.

The certificate you will receive on completion of our Level 3 and Level 5 TEFL Certification Courses will contain the UK Regulator’s (Ofqual) logo along with the full qualification title and qualification number.

Some of the TEFL courses you find online are not regulated despite promoting as one. While some claim “endorsed” by an Ofqual-regulated organisation, this is not the same as being regulated.

You can check for Gallery Teachers or other providers on the Ofqual Registers, if you can’t find it, then chances are the course is not regulated.

Course specifications

Both versions contain the same high-quality material. The difference is that the Ofqual version has an externally examiner-marked final assessment and offers RQF credits. Find out more …

180 hours online TEFL course – Just right for me

I have just completed my 180 hour online TEFL course. The course is easy to navigate and full of useful resources. It’s complete. What I especially liked about it is that you feel like it’s made of multiple voices. What I didn’t like in other online courses I took in the past, is that they told you How to do things or How NOT to do things, like there was just one way to do them. This course is more opinionated, it gives you a guideline, sort of “This is a good way to do things, start using our method to develop your personal one”. I like it. Very original. Definitely recommended!

New hope after COVID

I have lost my job due to COVID. I’ve never thought about teaching English, yet here I was, having to find a way to make some money. I have always enjoyed teaching, but doing it as a profession was something new, that made me skeptical. I talked about that with the staff members in the chat, I said that I wasn’t sure if I really wanted to do that, and they suggested me to read some of the articles in the blog, to see if this was something for me. I appreciated very much the fact that they didn’t try to sell me anything, they want to build a community, and taking their TEFL course is just the first step to know eachother. Now that I finished, I am feeling inspired and I am ready to start teaching English online, working with Gallery Teachers and on my own. Thank you guys, as you once told me, now I feel that the World is my oyster!

I like the sense of community

I didn’t know Gallery Teachers before signing in for this course. I selected a few that I liked and asked a friend who currently teaches English in Vietnam, and he said “Definitely go with Gallery Teachers!”. I trusted him, and it’s been a very good choice, I am very satisfied.

I contacted my Tutor a few times more than the necessary and she was always fast to respond and keen to help. The videos that support the classes are also very well done. They are short, so you can rewatch them entirely without keeping you busy for long periods of time. I recommend this course.
