What’s So Funny? is a weekly column dedicated to using humor in your English lessons. Everybody loves jokes and idioms and every language has jokes and idioms. But understanding them in a new language is not such a funny thing. In fact, it’s quite difficult. That’s because jokes and idioms involve very sophisticated use and understanding of vocabulary, culture, metaphor and word play that most learners only acquire at advanced levels. Nevertheless, you can present and use jokes and idioms when you teach and integrate them into your lessons. Each week What’s So Funny? will post a short video explaining a joke or an idiom and show you how to present and use it with your students. There will even be a downloadable worksheet you can use right away. Remember, learning English should be fun for you and your students!
