Are you thinking about leaving your job, opening a website and sell your own English courses, but you are too scared to do that? I interviewed Jo Gakonga of ELT Training, who told us her story and gave her precious advice!

Jo Gakonga used to work at University, a job she liked, then with the Corona Virus, two months ago she saw an opportunity and decided to take her leap into the unknown and become a freelance, making her website her primary source of income.

Although she is now a successful Teacher-entrepreneur, this has not been an overnight success: in fact, she has been working on her website for the past 10 years. She had to face challenges, some defeats and take difficult decisions. She had to fight her shyness and be willing to be publicly judged by others and question her ideas, working full time just on her project and trust her gut feeling.

Now she is free to set up her workflow (that by the way is way longer than when she used to be just a teacher) and is leaving the dream of working (sometimes) on a beach and at her own terms, building a loyal community that trusts her and appreciates all of her efforts.

This is a great success story that I hope will inspire you to do the same and follow your dreams. I would like to thank Jo Gakonga for her availability to share her experience with us and invite you to visit her website.

If you want to start a career in teaching English, instead, this is your first step!
