ParticipantMy practice is still pretty small and OCT machines are just way out of my budget right now, but I really need to up my retinal imaging game. Patients are starting to ask about high tech scans, but I can’t drop that kind of money just yet. Does anyone know of legit alternatives that don’t make my wallet cry? Something newer than just fundus cameras but not a full OCT setup. Bonus points if you’ve had hands-on experience with what you suggest and can tell me if patients react well. I’m just trying to balance good care and my bank account here!

ParticipantI totally get the wallet pain! You might want to check out https://ferrisoptical.com/ophthalmic-equipment/ for some potentially pocket-friendly options. They have a mix of new and used gear, like those fancy fundus cameras and Nidek OCT devices. Some fellow optometrists have given positive nods to their offerings, which might help you up your retinal imaging game without breaking the bank.
