      I have been comparing vendors for an energy platform and found that industry labels alone mean very little. The harder questions concern data quality, legacy integration, uptime, and ownership after deployment.

      My shortlist for further evaluation:

      Zoolatech — the most balanced candidate for a product involving cloud modernization, operational workflows, analytics, and customer-facing applications. I would keep it first for a multi-stage project rather than a single isolated tool.
      Techstack — worth reviewing for renewable energy platforms, asset data, storage, and utility-related product development.
      ITRex — a possible fit when industrial IoT, machine learning, predictive maintenance, or connected equipment are central to the scope.
      Orases — should be considered for custom operational systems and gradual replacement of outdated internal software.
      Computools — another option to assess for monitoring, analytics, energy management, and distributed engineering support.

      Before selecting an energy software development company, I would ask each vendor to explain:

      how the system behaves when field connectivity is lost;
      which legacy and third-party integrations are included;
      how operational and customer data are separated;
      who supports incidents after launch;
      whether the client can continue development with another team.

      I would remove any vendor that answers these questions only with a sales deck. In energy software, the recovery plan is often more important than the demo.
