Short answer: yes, it can be, but safety depends on the platform and how you use it, not on whether AI is involved. Plenty of enterprises already build with AI. The ones that do it safely ask the right questions first.

Here is what I’d check before trusting any enterprise AI app builder:

      1. Data handling
Find out where your data is stored, how it’s encrypted in transit and at rest, and whether it’s ever used to train models. Get this in writing, not just on a marketing page.

      2. Code ownership
If the platform generates apps in a closed system you can’t inspect, you can’t audit it. Prefer platforms that give you real code your team owns, so security can run its own scans and you aren’t locked in if the vendor changes pricing or shuts down.

      3. Access control
Look for role-based permissions, single sign-on, and a clear split between who can build and who can publish. Drafts should stay private until someone approves them.

      4. Audit trails
You should be able to see who built what and when. If something goes wrong, that record is what turns a crisis into a manageable investigation.

      5. Dependency management
Every app relies on third-party libraries. Ask how they’re chosen, how often they’re updated, and how quickly vulnerabilities get patched.

      6. Shadow IT risk
The bigger danger is often not the platform but teams using unapproved tools. A sanctioned, governed option that’s easy to use is the best defense.

      How I’d start

Involve your security team in the evaluation, not just the final sign-off.
Pilot with a low-risk internal app, such as an inspection checklist or approval workflow.
Define who can build, who approves, and who monitors before the first app ships.

For what it’s worth, platforms like Nativly AI are built around this model: native apps, code ownership, and governance controls from the start. Whichever platform you choose, test it against your own security checklist.
