ParticipantI’m interested in starting a career in healthcare but would prefer a role that doesn’t require years of university. Sterile processing seems like an interesting option because of its importance in patient safety and infection control. For those working in the field, what do you enjoy most about the job, and what advice would you give someone considering training and certification?

ParticipantI know this thread is a bit old, but I wanted to add my two cents. I work in sterile processing and I love that I can focus on detail without needing a degree. My advice is to find a program that includes hands-on practice, and then aim for your Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification right after. What kind of on-the-job training options are available near you?

ParticipantSterile processing is a solid choice without a four-year degree. I work in the field and enjoy the hands-on focus on safety. For training and certification details, I personally found the sterile tech career guide helpful for mapping out steps and salary expectations based on real experience. It breaks down what programs to look for in your area.
