I’m in a bit of a spot and I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction because I need to get this sorted quickly. I’ve got a 2018 Lincoln Navigator that I absolutely love, it’s the most comfortable car I’ve ever owned and it’s been absolutely perfect for family road trips and just cruising around town. But this morning I went to take the kids to school and the car wouldn’t start, just complete silence when I pressed the start button, not even a click from the starter motor. The interior lights came on dimly for a second and then faded out, which told me straight away that the battery was completely dead. I managed to get a jump start from my neighbor and it fired up fine, but I could tell the battery was struggling because the idle was a bit rough and the infotainment screen took ages to boot up. I took it for a good drive, about 45 minutes on the highway, thinking I’d get some charge back into the battery, but when I parked up and turned the engine off, I tried to restart it and it was dead again. So the battery isn’t holding any charge at all, which means it needs to be replaced urgently. The problem is, I know these Navigators are incredibly sensitive when it comes to batteries because they have so much electrical equipment, from the air suspension to the massaging seats to the massive infotainment system, and if the voltage drops too low, all sorts of weird things can happen. I’ve heard stories of people having issues with the suspension going into fault mode or the gearbox behaving strangely just because the battery was weak. I’ve also been told that you can’t just put any old battery in these cars, you need the correct AGM battery with the right specifications, and you need to properly reset the battery management system so the car knows it has a new battery and can charge it correctly. The dealership quoted me an absolutely eye-watering price for a replacement, and honestly I’d rather take it to a good independent garage that knows what they’re doing. I work in the ICAD area and I’ve seen a few workshops around that claim to work on American luxury cars, but I’m always a bit nervous about trusting my Navigator to just anyone because these cars are so complex and I’ve heard horror stories about inexperienced mechanics causing more harm than good. I was searching online earlier and I saw a mention of a Top Lincoln battery garage in ICAD, which sounded promising, but I couldn’t find any proper reviews or feedback from actual owners who’ve used their services. What I really need is a recommendation from someone who’s actually had their Lincoln battery replaced at a good independent shop in ICAD and can tell me about their experience. Did they use the correct battery, did they do the proper reset procedure, and did they check the alternator and charging system to make sure everything was working properly? I’m also keen to know if they looked for any parasitic drains that might have caused the battery to fail in the first place, because I’d hate to replace the battery only to find out there’s an underlying issue that’s going to kill the new one. If you’ve got any recommendations for a trustworthy garage in ICAD that really understands Lincoln vehicles, I’d be incredibly grateful for your help. I’m hoping to get this sorted over the weekend because I’ve got a family trip coming up and I really need the car to be ready, I can’t afford to have it let me down at the worst possible moment.
