Have a quick think about the reflective questions below in order to get the most out of the workshop:
      1. Do you write your aims and objectives up on the board? If so, why? Who is it for?
      2. Do your students need to know what they’re doing?
      3. Do they need to know why they’re doing it?
      4. Do you hide grammar from your students? Why / Why not?

1.-I do write the objectives on the board, but only the achievable ones.I do it so as a guide and to focus my students’attention, to check on vocabulary previously learnt and to recap on related structures.
2.-I believe they do when you want to have teacher controlled lesson otherwise, students often welcome variety and different ways of doing things.
      3.- Yes, they do.
4.- No, I do not hide it when grammar is necessary for their progress and understanding of how language works.

I do write up objectives but I think this is for my line managers or other observers. I don’t like to be constrained by it and also I feel students spend a long time writing this stuff down in notebooks but I don’t feel that helps them.
I prefer explaining why we are doing what we’re doing as we look at the materials or at the end of lessons when we recap.
I like a mix of hiding grammar and explaining it directly.
