Random strings can provide excellent unpredictability, while long passphrases are usually much easier to remember. Which approach do you use for important accounts, and does your choice change depending on whether a password manager is available?
Jumping in on this older post because I’ve been thinking about this myself. I lean toward passphrases when I have to remember them, but for anything managed by a password manager, I go full random gibberish. Do you use different strategies depending on whether you’ll be typing it manually or just copy‑pasting from your manager?
I prefer random passwords for security but switch to passphrases when I don’t have a manager handy. For generating truly unique credentials, I use a tool with options like length, character types, and avoiding similar chars. You can see more about its customizable features at see more.
