I think that the topic in this module is of great importance. Functional language is an important part of the communication. Students should be able to define the style, register and level of formality. The ideas presented in this module are extremely useful.

I totally agree with the colleagues, interesting and useful module. Lots of suggestions and demonstrations of the elements of the functional language.
I enjoyed this module very much, and I think it is a very important lesson. A lot of students sound impolite not because they really want to but because they cannot identify the level of formality in their language. Lesson well learnt.
I agree the level of formality but also the intonation are so important when communicating. I t is also important to teach them to students.
You’re right but – personally speaking – I don’t believe I’m well-versed at it :-(!
I agree with this. Some of my students have struggled with function, especially with formal/informal speech. I enjoyed this module and have picked up some useful ideas.
I enjoyed this module. I now know that it is not enough to just teach lexis and grammar for effective communication, functions are also important for students. This will help them be more comfortable communicating outside the classroom.
To me I think this module is very important to the students because it will help them communicate well with others, also it will help the students know how to be formal, informal or neutral at what time.
I particularly enjoyed this module as it’s “hands-on” somehow and pretty close to what I try and do on a daily basis.
What’s more, it was clear and easy to follow — maybe a bit more than the previous ones ;-)!As for the skills seen and practised, there were quite a few, all of them are relevant and always worth a go ;-)!
I definitely enjoyed this module. One of the moments I’d like to mention is about the rules for teaching functional language.
Functional exponents have to be taught as complete sentences or phrases; as soon as I choose my exponents I should stick to them throughout the lesson; there should be a lot of drill, drill, drill of the target language; I should make an explicit focus on intonation; use different approaches; use authentic materials as much as possible.Yes, how important is the drill ist in order to learn properly pronunciation and entonation.
In each lesson I continue learning many more important aspects related to languages teaching. From my point of view, it´s required and almost mandatory to follow the steps and the techniques we have been learning in this course. Of course, if we want to be good teachers and want to be able to control properly the teaching strategies, a lot of practice and preparation will be required.
