Guest1. I should take the needs of my students into consideration when deciding on which functional language to include in my syllabus.Likewise, the order of the functions to be taught depends on the students’ needs and expectations in learning the language. We call this needs analysis.
2. Intonation will help the teacher to highlight /stress the word that she/he wants learners to focus on. For example, COULD or WOULD can be highlighted when practicing polite questions.
3. They might use wrong intonation. Some linguistic elements might be missing.
4. Functional language will help our students to become autonomous. With the help of functional language student will become compotent in communicating. They will be able to communicate in the target languge for a genuine reason. Students will learn to use appropriate language for various situtations. They will be able to produce the language for daily life.
Language is not just a system of rules, rather it has some authentic functions and is used for communicative purposes. Functional syllabus helps teachers teach the language in a more meaningful way as it is used in real world.
