Jessica FanKeymasterHave a quick think about the reflective questions below in order to get the most out of the workshop:
1. To what extent are my speaking lessons focused on teaching speaking rather than on activating grammar and vocabulary?
2. Should I have pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar development sub aims in a speaking class?
3. Should speaking skills be taught separately in dedicated speaking lessons or as part of an integrated skills lesson? - 24th September 2021 at 4:58 pm #344569
Hedvig IlyesModeratorHere are some more resources that were shared in the chat by Neil and Gabi, an attendee in the Masterclass:
– Neil pointed it out that ‘looking at speaking test design can open our eyes to speaking sub-skills. The CEFR is a hugely valuable asset when trying to understand these (most European tests are based on the CEFR); the free NILE filter is the best way to search this
– https://www.nile-elt.com/catalog?pagename=NILE-Membership’– a book recommendation from Gabi:
‘There is a great book that could also help teachers identify speaking sub skills: Conversation gambits- Real English Conversation Practices by E. Keller & S. Warner’– Another link shared by Neil, in response to the part of the discussion about using Alexa in a speaking class:
