Grading can protect a card and potentially make it more desirable to collectors, but submitting every decent card doesn’t seem practical. How do you decide which cards are worth sending to PSA or BGS—value, condition, rarity, player popularity, or something else? The site offers regular PSA and BGS grading submissions alongside its sports-card and TCG business.
Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I’ve been thinking about this too. For me, the biggest factor is what the card is worth raw versus graded—if grading adds significant value, it’s worth it. Player popularity and condition matter a lot. Do you guys have a minimum dollar threshold before you submit?
I focus on value and condition first. For popular players, even mid-grade cards can be worth submitting
I send my best finds through a hobby store that runs regular PSA and BGS submissions, which saves me shipping hassle and gives me bulk rates
Their team also helps me evaluate borderline cards before I pay
