There are so many options available now—Glock-style, Hi-Capa, 1911, M9, and other platforms—that it’s hard to know where to start. I’d rather buy something reliable that has good spare parts availability than the cheapest model available. Which pistol would you recommend for someone buying their first sidearm, and what made you choose yours?

Jumping in on this older post because I was in the same spot a few months back. For reliability and easy spare parts, I’d lean toward a Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa 5.1 or a KJW Glock. Both are workhorses with tons of aftermarket support. What’s your budget looking like—under $100 or a bit more?

I have a Glock from Bespoke Airsoft and it has been rock solid with easy spare parts access. Their High Wycombe store and range let you test platforms before buying. For reliability over just cheap, that firsthand experience is hard to beat.
