Discussion Topics

Are you a light sleeper? 
  1. What do you think about the ideas shared in the video?
  2. How many hours do you normally sleep? Is it enough? Do you manage to sleep as much as you need? Have you ever been sleep deprived?
  3. Are you a light sleeper? Can you sleep through noise and distractions? Have you ever overslept? What happened? 
  4. Do you watch television or use your phone in bed? Why/Why not?
  5. Can you sleep in an unfamiliar place? How about on the plane?
Sleeping habits around the world
  1. In your culture, what time do people typically go to bed? Is it common to take a nap at lunchtime or at another time of the day (power naps)?
  2. People in Japan often nap in public -how about your country? Do you think ‘power naps’ should be encouraged?
  3. Parents in Scandinavia let their children sleep outside to keep them healthy? Do you think it’s a good idea? Have you ever slept outside? When? Did you like it?
  4. Children in Argentina are ‘night owls’, they go to bed very late. What time do you think is best for kids to go to bed? What time do kids go to bed in your country?
  5. Are there any sleep time beliefs in your country- for example, sleeping with your head pointing to the North, sleeping with a book under your pillow before exams, drinking milk before bed time, etc.?
