Let’s talk about education!
- How does the video make you feel about schools and education? What have you noticed about the students, the teacher, the lessons, etc in the video?
- Does your country have a good education system? What are its strengths and weaknesses? What would you like to change about the school system in your country?
- Is education only for the young? Should education for older/retired people be free, for example, University of the Third Age ? Why/ why not?
- Is it possible to learn without teachers and formal education? Why/why not? Do you think home-schooling children by parents can replace formal education?
- Do you think that private schools are better than state schools? Do you think there are good schools and bad schools?
The future of education
- Has the education system changed in your country since you went to school? Do you think children and teenagers are more difficult to teach now than in the past? Do you think the teacher’s role has changed?
- Has the development of technology affected learning? How?
- Can online learning replace traditional schools? Why/why not?
- Do students need to be tested? If so, should the way students are tested be changed?
- What do you think are the key skills young people will need in the future? Which subjects should be taught at school but they aren’t? Why?
