I found this Module so useful and well-designed. There were some aspects personally I didn’t use at my lessons – IPA chart, associating phonemes, representing the number of syllables. The tips which were given in this Module have helped me to make drilling more joyful and encouraging.

The module is well structured and has a bunch of useful materials. Thanks to it, I highlighted some interesting ways to start a lesson, focused on some approaches more (eliciting, providing feedback, providing context) and added a couple of questions to my ‘student’s analysis’ form.

      For Hannah’s lesson:
( This lead-in will be suitable for adults)
      – show a trailer of ‘ the Curious Case of Benjamin Button”
      – after watching ask the whole class: ( why is his case curious. Did he have a happy life? Why? – elicit some vocabulary)
      – organise a pair work for 2 min to discuss what things should each person do to have a happy life?
      – feedback – call some individuals to share their ideas.

      For Steve’s lesson:
      – Print some pictures of Wonders of the world (Space ship, Internet, Airlines, Green houses)
      – Divide the students into pairs and ask each pair to pick one picture
      – encourage students to discuss the following questions about the chosen picture ( questions might be written on the board):
      1. What can you see in the picture?
      2. What do you know about it? Is it popular?
      – feedback (ask some individuals about the pictures ( put the pics on the board and elicit the main topic)

Yeah, Grammar might be cool, especially when it’s presented interactively. I’d like to discover ttt and guided discovery approaches in detail to make my classes more engaging and vivid.

I found fascinating to learn in detail about different approaches while teaching speaking. I tend to use guided discovery more often whereas this module encouraged me to focus on designing task-based lessons as well.

Yeah, there’s a lot to think through and apply. There are lots of useful tips and plenty food for thought as Silviaf mentioned. Personally I found some differences between written and spoken language useful. Now they are all structured in my head and notebook 📒

Yeah, that’s a crucial point that both are used simultaneously in real life.

Yeah, the idea of evaluating really helps to analyse and pay attention to some key things we should use making our own lead-ins and lesson plans
