‘There is a great book that could also help teachers identify speaking sub skills: Conversation gambits- Real English Conversation Practices by E. Keller & S. Warner’– Another link shared by Neil, in response to the part of the discussion about using Alexa in a speaking class:

Hedvig IlyesModeratorA link to a website that allows you to create half a crossword tasks:
https://vocab.today/worksheets/half-a-crossword/It’s very simple to use: type the words you want your students to focus on in the word box on the left and you’ll see the crosswords being generated simultaneously. You can print the crosswords, however, there is no option to save them. You can take a screenshot and save the crosswords though.
Half a crossword can be used as a controlled practice task or to revise vocabulary in pairs. However, this type of task can be used with only one student in one to one teaching between the teacher and the student too.
Have you ever used half a crossword in you class? What is your experience? Do you like it? What about your students?

Hedvig IlyesModeratorThank you for your interest in the use of the Lexical Approach. We posted some links above that are worth having a look at. We can also recommend books written by Michael Lewis, The Lexical Approach and Implementing the Lexical Approach. Also, please keep an eye on our upcoming events, since Hugh Deller is going to start a series on the topic in June. You will definitely find various ways of using the lexical approach with your students based on the links provided on the forum, the books listed above and the upcoming webinars.

Hedvig IlyesModeratorReading your comment, Cristiane, reminds me of what a teacher of mine once said to a student of hers, ‘If they (people with fluent English) really want to, they will understand you.’
